卒業生がエストニアに行ったと、「美しい絵はがき」をプレゼントしてくれた。

彼女の趣味の一つは、海外旅行先で美しい「絵はがき」を見つける事だそうです。私は、エストニアというと「エストニア出身把瑠都関」しか知りません。

インターネットでエストニアを調べると、Skypeの発祥の地で、IT技術と世界遺産の中世の旧市街が共存した魅力のある国だとありました。確かに、レンガ色の屋根と白い壁、ロシア風なとんがり屋根の塔、青いバルト海と空のコントラストが絵のように美しい写真ばかりでした。

One of the graduates of St. Mary gave me beautiful postcards from her trip to Estonia.

She said that one of her hobbies is finding beautiful postcards from her travels abroad. Thinking about Estonia by myself, only I can recall “Baruto seki” of the big Sumo wrestler who was from Estonia.

Since I did not know about Estonia, I looked it up online. I found the birthplace of Skype, and a fascinating country where IT technology and a medieval old town were admitted as an old Heritage site. All the photos I could see on the Internet were like fairy tales which had brown colored roofs, white walls, Russian style pointed towers, the blue Baltic sea and blue sky. Those photos bring us very mixed romantic feelings.
